The Otto-Eldred Terrors are taking a road trip to challenge the Kane Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Otto-Eldred turned things around against Cameron County on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Raiders, sneaking past 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Terrors have posted since April 10th.
Macaibe Splain was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Michael Sheeler was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Otto-Eldred always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kane, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Smethport a 10-0 shutout on Thursday. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Hubbers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Phinn Chamberlain made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eric Novosel, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Kane is 2-1 when Novosel posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Otto-Eldred's record is now 3-13. As for Kane, their record now sits at 6-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Otto-Eldred has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kane struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Otto-Eldred skirted past Kane 3-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Terrors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
