Whitney was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight  defeat. They took  a  3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Folsom Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  3-0  back in September.
 While Whitney ultimately came up short, they really made  Folsom work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 25-12, 27-29,  25-19.
 Emi Stephens paced Whitney's offense, picking up 11 kills. Stephens got some help from  Kapri Orteza and her 38 assists. Stephens was also solid from the service line:  she led the team with three aces.
 Leading Folsom to victory were  Khloe Wong and  Ryan Kannegeisser.  Wong  had 19  digs and two  aces, while  Kannegeisser  had 17 assists. That's the most  assists  Kannegeisser has posted  over her last seven  contests.  Makaylin Santos also deserves some recognition as  she  served her first  ace of the season.
Whitney's loss dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Folsom, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-9 record  this season.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Whitney will  take on  rival Granite Bay  at 6:30  p.m.  on Monday. Meanwhile, Folsom is set to  challenge  their familiar foe Del Oro  at 6:30  p.m.  on Monday.
