Having struggled with six defeats in a row dating back to last season, Briarcrest Christian turned things around against Whitehaven on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 15-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Saints' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last four games.
Ellen Adair was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Blake Harris, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Grace Gleason, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Briarcrest Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, St. Benedict at Auburndale put another one in the bag last Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over Grenada.
