The Page Patriots will take on the Summit Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Page comes in on four and Summit on three.
Page came out on top against Columbia Central on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Patriots walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Lions.
Emily King was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. King was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Anna Johnson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Riley Vaughan was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs.
Page hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Summit made easy work of Rockvale last Monday and carried off a 10-4 win.
The team relied heavily on Bella Brennan, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Robertson, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Page's victory bumped their record up to 23-5-1. As for Summit, their win bumped their record up to 13-16.
Summit's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Page has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Summit, though, as they've been averaging only 2.6 strikeouts. Will Page keep running through batters, or will the Spartans buck the trend?
Page skirted past Summit 5-3 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
