2A - North recap October 1, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 2A - North this week, South Summit beat Gunnison Valley 65-13. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Millard and Summit Academy played the most contested game in the league this week, with Millard eventually emerging with a 17-14 victory. Kyler Rowley ran for 68 yards and caught 3 passes for 44 yards in the win.
Hagan Hines was a passing and rushing force as Summit Academy fell to the Eagles. He completed 6 passes for 143 yards and also ran for 94 yards. Hines' favorite target this week was Steven Harp, who caught 2 passes for 57 yards.
Ty Jones and Colby Averett gave South Summit a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Jones threw for 54 yards, while Averett ran for 134 yards. Isaac Tillett also contributed to the rushing game with 104 yards on the ground.
The Bulldogs' Tyson Moosman and Jacob Hatch have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Moosman has thrown for 843 yards this season, while Hatch, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 37 catches for 643 yards. American Leadership Academy's Lincoln Henderson leads the league in rushing yards with 774.
The top two teams in 2A - North will face off this week when first place South Summit takes on second place Layton Christian Academy. Last week, Jerry Parker's team topped Gunnison Valley, while Layton Christian Academy defeated the Eagles.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Wildcats take on the Eagles. South Summit has allowed 40 points this season, while Layton Christian Academy has given up 63. The Wildcats allowed 13 points last week as they topped Yori Ludvigson's team.
South Summit took down the Bulldogs 65-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jones ran for 100 yards during the win.
