The Tustin Tillers will face off against the Anaheim Colonists at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Tustin's win against Rancho Alamitos wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Tustin narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Rancho Alamitos 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tillers have posted since March 21, 2024.
Emery Diaz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Samantha Reyes, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Anaheim waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lobos a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Colonists, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Taylor Falt was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Jenelle Monzon was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Chloe Tabita was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.
Anaheim hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.
Anaheim's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. Tustin has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
