The Chaparral Roadrunners won the last time they faced the Sedgwick Cardinals, and things went their way on Thursday too. Chaparral enjoyed a cozy 49-30 win over Sedgwick. Given Chaparral's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Sedgwick is ranked 287th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chaparral to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaylee Swartz, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. The matchup was Swartz's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Auburn Hill, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Chaparral and bumps their season record up to 4-1. As for Sedgwick, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chaparral will square off against Remington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sedgwick will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ell-Saline at 6:00 p.m. on January 12, 2024.
