Basketball Recap: Waverly's Loss Ends 13-Game Winning Streak at Home

It was fun while it lasted, but Waverly's undefeated season came to an end after four games on Saturday. They fell just short of the Blair Bears by a score of 50-48. The loss was the Vikings' first of the season.

Waverly's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Parker Christiansen, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Annie Harms, who put up 11 points.

Blair's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addie Sullivan led the charge by putting up 17 points. Taytum Macholan was another key player, posting 15 points.

Waverly's loss ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-1. As for Blair, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Waverly will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Crete at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Blair, they will venture away from home to face off against Gretna East at 12:00 p.m. on December 28th. Blair is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season.
