The Cathedral Fighting Irish won the last time they faced the Covenant Christian Warriors, and things went their way on Thursday too. Cathedral walked away with a 39-32 victory over Covenant Christian. Given Cathedral's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Covenant Christian is ranked 271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Taylor Lewis, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tianna Guy, who scored six points.
Cathedral has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. As for Covenant Christian, their defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 7-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cathedral won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Indianapolis Bishop Chatard at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Indianapolis Bishop Chatard has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Covenant Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Triton Central at 7:30 p.m.
