8-Man District 5 (8 Man) recap Sept. 26, 2012
Wayne extended the longest winning streak in 8-Man District 5 (8 Man) this week by beating Moravia, 53-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Melcher-Dallas led the league in scoring this week after putting up 76 points on Tri-County.
The Trojans' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nick Watts threw for 97 yards and Trenton Steinke had 54 yards receiving. On the ground Josh Edmundson chipped in 15 yards. Skyler Purdy helped Tri-County's passing attack out by catching two balls for 36 yards.
Tri-County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Watts has thrown for 363 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Spencer Steinke has 15 catches for 277 yards. Jake Brumbaugh leads the league in rushing with 78 yards.
The marquee game in 8-Man District 5 (8 Man) this week will be the clash between H-L-V and the Saints. The Warriors enters the contest ranked 23rd in the state, while Melcher-Dallas ranks 20th.
