The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. Benton will look to defend their home turf on Friday against Greene County at 7:00 PM. Since neither squad is a stranger to landslide victories this season, you'd better bet it will be hard-fought showdown.
Benton might be getting used to good results now that the team has four wins in a row. They made easy work of Vinton-Shellsburg last Friday and carried off a 43-21 victory.
Meanwhile, Greene County put the finishing touches on their 6th blowout victory of the season. They were fully in charge, breezing past Battle Creek-Ida Grove/Odebolt-Arthur 49-6. Greene County were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 8-1. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, it will be interesting to see how far up these teams can run up the score.
