With a playoff game on the line, the Middle Tennessee Christian Cougars rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 35-27. Winning may never get old, but Middle Tennessee Christian sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Eli Wilson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 220 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per carry. Wilson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 66 yards. Another player making a difference was Briggs Boyd, who gained 92 total yards and a touchdown.
Columbia Academy's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Montae Baldwin, who rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown. Baldwin hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. Connor Rosson was another key contributor, throwing for 147 yards and two touchdowns.
Middle Tennessee Christian pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points per game. As for Columbia Academy, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4.
Middle Tennessee Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Friendship Christian at 3:00 p.m. on November 30th. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Friendship Christian: 10.1, Middle Tennessee Christian: 14.2) so any points scored will be well earned. Columbia Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
