After losing to Covenant Christian the last time they met, Spring Lake decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Lakers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  9-7  victory over the Chargers  on Monday.
 Khloe Melinn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned  (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side,  Tessa Britt was  incredible,  firing off two  home runs and three  RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most  home runs  she has posted since back in March.  Abigail Lau was another key player,  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances with three  runs and one  stolen base.
 They weren't the only ones working in the  home run department: Spring Lake  lost a few balls and  finished the game with two  home runs. They are  a perfect 3-0 when  they post two or more  home runs.
Spring Lake's win  ended  a  nine-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 8-10. As for Covenant Christian, they moved to 12-5 with that  loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.
 Coming up, Spring Lake will head out to  take on Holland Christian  at 3:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Lakers are facing the Maroons at the right time seeing as the Maroons are stuck on  a  seven-game losing streak. As for Covenant Christian, they will take on Unity Christian at 4:15  p.m.  on Tuesday.
