It was a good run, but The Ellsworth Bearcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by Southeast of Saline 30-0. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ellsworth in their matchups with Southeast of Saline: they've now lost six in a row.
Will Cravens threw for 34 yards on eight of 18 attempts. On the ground, Ian Andalon-silva rushed for 56 yards.
Southeast of Saline's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daniel Kejr, who threw for 181 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Grady Gebhardt was another key contributor, rushing for 77 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Ellsworth's loss dropped their record down to 7-1. As for Southeast of Saline, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ellsworth will take on Haven at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Nash Wray and Cravens. As for Southeast of Saline, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. Chaparral will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Southeast of Saline is ranked ninth).
