It was another big night for Hayden Deane, who scored 24 points along with two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Melbourne Central Catholic's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Lane, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Connor Angstadt, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Trey Nevad, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds.
Melbourne Central Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Merritt Island Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Melbourne Central Catholic will head out on the road to square off against the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Merritt Island Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Titans at 6:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Florida (Odyssey Charter School is ranked 707th, while the Cougars are ranked 703rd).
