Adding to the longest winning streak in Suburban this week, Agawam beat Chicopee Comp 49-7. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Northampton took down Chicopee 44-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
South Hadley's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. P.J. Sears threw for 41 yards and Ryan Kleszczynski had 25 yards receiving. On the ground T.J. Fitzell chipped in 194 yards. Ethan Fleming helped South Hadley's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 26 yards.
Fitzell was a passing and rushing force as the Tigers defeated Commerce/New Leadership/Springfield Renaissance.
Sears put up the best numbers in passing as South Hadley bested Commerce/New Leadership/Springfield Renaissance.
South Hadley's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Sears has thrown for 698 yards and 5 touchdowns this season, while Griffin Fitzell has 12 catches for 231 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Agawam takes on second place Northampton. Last week, Agawam topped the Colts, while the Blue Devils defeated the Pacers.
Eric Scammons' team's Fitzell needs only 19 yards against Wahconah Regional next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Fitzell has rushed for 981 yards on 82 carries so far this year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Brownies take on Northampton. Agawam has allowed 111 points this season, while the Blue Devils have given up 125. The Brownies allowed 7 points last week as they bested Chicopee Comp.
Northampton made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,076 from 8,765. The improvement was largely due to a 44-0 victory over Chicopee last week.
