The Blue River Valley Vikings's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Randolph Southern Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Blue River Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 23 to 6 on the offensive boards, a fact Blue River Valley proved. They came out on top against Union by a score of 60-47. The victory was just what Blue River Valley needed coming off of a 61-26 defeat in their prior match.
Blue River Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlee Gibson, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Schmidt, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Randolph Southern earned a 45-33 win over Union County on Wednesday.
Randolph Southern found their leader in underclassman Haileigh Allen, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bree Smith, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Blue River Valley now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Randolph Southern, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Tuesday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Blue River Valley have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 35.1% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Randolph Southern struggles in that department as they've only made 34.6% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
