Luther is a perfect 4-0 against Southwest Covenant since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lions will be playing at home against the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Luther turned things around against Hinton on Monday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Comets.

Aden Henke made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. He is becoming a predictor of Luther's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-7 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Brody Becker was a standout: he scored a run while going 1-for-5. Another player making a difference was Esteban C, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Luther kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, Southwest Covenant got themselves on the board against Wayne on Tuesday, but Wayne never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Bulldogs. The Patriots not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 28th.
Like Luther, Southwest Covenant also got a great game from a two-way player: Gavyn Beshears. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Beshears a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tate Flanary, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Evan Beshears was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Luther's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Southwest Covenant, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-7.
Luther took their win against Southwest Covenant when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
