Basketball Recap: Durham School of the Arts Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Durham School of the Arts had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past the Excelsior Classical Academy Flying Lions, posting a 70-32 victory. The Bulldogs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Durham School of the Arts got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Martin Garcia out in front who went 5 of 8 en route to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Ashton Patterson, who posted 12 points and seven boards.

Durham School of the Arts was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February.

Excelsior Classical Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hunter Goss, who put up eight points along with 15 boards and four blocks. Goss is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 21 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Vincent Mombrun, who had five points and seven rebounds.

Durham School of the Arts' victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-9. As for Excelsior Classical Academy, they dropped their record down to 6-4 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games.
