On Thursday, the Chariho Chargers faced the West Warwick Wizards in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Chariho put the hurt on West Warwick with a sharp 60-39 victory. The victory was familiar territory for Chariho who now have five in a row.
Chariho's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emily Ballard led the charge by scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Jules White, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, West Warwick still got an impressive performance from Liz Gresin, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Calla Davide, who scored ten points.
Chariho's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. As for West Warwick, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Chariho will head out on the road to challenge Prout at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Prout will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Rhode Island Rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Chariho is ranked fifth). As for West Warwick, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cumberland at 6:45 p.m. on Monday.
