Baseball Recap: Yorkville Christian Has No Trouble Against Lisle

Yorkville Christian's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Lisle Lions as they made off with a 10-4 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Tyler Gleason and Nolan Hooper did most of the damage at the plate: Gleason got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, while Hooper went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those three runs gave Gleason a new career-high. Danny Paige was another key player, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Yorkville Christian pushed their record up to 9-5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lisle, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yorkville Christian will take on Marquette at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Crusaders will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lisle, they will square off against Wilmington at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
