Imperial Valley recap Oct. 30, 2012
Imperial's Royce Freeman rumbled for the longest rushing play in Imperial Valley this season in his game against Central last week. Freeman's team topped the Spartans as he sprinted for 94 yards on the play and finished with 232 in all.
Diego Moreno and Aldo Munoz provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Palo Verde Valley. The connection went for 82 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
Calexico's dynamic duo of Moreno and Munoz proved tough for the Yellowjackets to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Moreno threw for 245 yards and three touchdowns and Munoz had 131 yards receiving. Alberto Valdez helped Calexico's passing attack out by catching four balls for 66 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Chris Carter and Freeman Imperial has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Carter leads the league in passing with 929 yards, while Freeman has rushed for 1900 yards this season. The Bulldogs' Munoz leads the league in receiving yards with 422 on 12 catches.
Brawley's Isaak Comparan is a mere nine yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 121 carries Comparan has accumulated 991 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Wildcats take on Michael Hobbs' team. Brawley is currently in first, while the Spartans are in fourth.
Jon Self's team extended the longest winning streak in Imperial Valley this week by beating Southwest, 63-0. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
