The Payette Pirates will head out to take on the Homedale Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Payette is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Payette gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 14-10 win over Caldwell.

Payette got a massive performance out of Darrien Pecunia, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave Pecunia a new career-high. Jahzyon Sylva was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5.
Payette kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Homedale not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 19th. They were the clear victors by a 20-12 margin over New Plymouth. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won five matches by eight runs or more so far this season.
Bentley Holland made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Holland was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Carson Fine was a standout: he scored four runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-5. Wylee Bidiman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
The victory made it two in a row for Homedale and bumps their season record up to 10-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Payette, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Payette has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Homedale struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Payette might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Homedale when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
