After a string of four wins, the Kellam Knights's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 63-52 to Princess Anne. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Kellam of the 70-39 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Kellam lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kate Spain, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Spain has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mia Spain, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Kellam's defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-4. As for Princess Anne, their win was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kellam will face off against Tallwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kellam is facing Tallwood at the right time seeing as Tallwood is stuck on a 19-game losing streak. As for Princess Anne, they will head out on the road to face off against Bayside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Princess Anne's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matchups.
