The Holy Cross Lancers will square off against the Medford Tech Jaguars at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Holy Cross has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Holy Cross' last matchup with Collingswood could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Monday. The Lancers came up short against the Panthers, falling 18-5. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Medford Tech faced off against Camden on Monday. The Jaguars blew past the Panthers 12-2.
David Giallella was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Medford Tech is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Giallella was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other pitching news, Miguel Torres tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.
Back at the plate, Jacob Inman was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Medford Tech: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Simmons, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
Medford Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Medford Tech's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Holy Cross, their loss dropped their record down to 4-16.
Everything went Holy Cross' way against Medford Tech in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Holy Cross made off with a 14-4 victory. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
