The Ridgeview Global Studies Academy Explorers suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They took a serious blow against McKeel Academy, falling 54-17. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Ridgeview Global Studies Academy has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Ridgeview Global Studies Academy still got an impressive performance from Chelsse Jean-Giles, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 64.7% of Ridgeview Global Studies Academy's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Ridgeview Global Studies Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as McKeel Academy racked up 18 assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McKeel Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Anderson, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicaria McHellon, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
This is the second loss in a row for Ridgeview Global Studies Academy and nudges their season record down to 6-8. As for McKeel Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ridgeview Global Studies Academy will square off against Tenoroc at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for McKeel Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Santa Fe Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
