The Coppell Cowboys will head out on the road to take on the Plano Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Friday, Coppell faced Flower Mound in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Coppell fell just short of Flower Mound by a score of 4-3. It was the first time this season that Coppell let down their fans at home.
They hit Flower Mound with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from
Sadie Ozymy,
Jordan Clig, and
Rachel Mathew.
Meanwhile, Plano fell victim to Marcus' stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They suffered a tough 5-0 defeat at the hands of the Marauders. While losing is never fun, Plano can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Marcus is ranked tenth).
Coppell's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3-2. As for Plano, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11-3 record this season.
Coppell took their victory against Plano when the teams last played back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 6-1. Will Coppell repeat their success, or does Plano have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
