The Smithton Tigers lost against the Stover Bulldogs last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Smithton was beaten by the Bulldogs 54-23. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Smithton in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost five in a row.
It was another big night for Ashlyn Pinzke, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and five steals for Stover. Pinzke hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Helen Black, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Smithton has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Stover, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-7.
Smithton will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Green Ridge is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Stover, they will square off against the Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
