Two dominant guards in Michael Mcculley and Gabriel Short are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Kingman Bulldogs will be playing at home against the River Valley Dust Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Kingman focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Monday.
Last Monday, Kingman was beaten by Parker 65-32. Kingman has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Kingman had strong showings from Codey Padilla, who scored seven points, and Logan Drummond, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, after only 21 points in their last contest, River Valley made sure to put some points up on the board against Tonopah Valley on Wednesday. River Valley took down Tonopah Valley 77-60.
River Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nash Hanrahan out in front who went 8 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 7 assists. Hanrahan hasn't dropped below 25 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Short, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Kingman's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for River Valley, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-15.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Kingman have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like River Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Kingman came out on top in a nail-biter against River Valley in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 53-51. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was River Valley's Nysaiah Vargas, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten assists. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Kingman still be able to contain Vargas? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
