Highland Home has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Zion Chapel Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Highland Home gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 62-42 margin over Pike Liberal Arts. Given Highland Home's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Pike Liberal Arts is ranked 357th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Zion Chapel had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They secured a 64-58 W over Goshen.
Slade Grantham continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. He hasn't dropped below 15points for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Joseph Legear, who scored 12 points.
Highland Home's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Zion Chapel, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.
Highland Home beat Zion Chapel 55-46 when the teams last played on January 10th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highland Home since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
