Basketball Game Preview: Arbor View Aggies vs. Basic Wolves

Arbor View has gone 3-0 against Basic recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Both will round out the year against one another at at 5:30 p.m. Arbor View knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 contests -- so hopefully Basic likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, Arbor View earned an 84-75 win over Clovis. Given the Aggies' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked third in Nevada, while the Cougars are ranked 397th in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Basic had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 59-44 victory over George Washington Prep on Saturday. That looming 59-44 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wolves yet this season.

Basic found their leader in sophomore Kenny Williams, who went 9 for 15 on his way to 20 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for Williams. The team also got some help courtesy of JaMari Cottingham, who posted 14 points along with seven boards and six steals.

Basic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Arbor View's record is now 8-3. As for Basic, their record is now 3-6.

Everything came up roses for Arbor View against Basic when the teams last played back in December of 2017, as the squad secured a 76-45 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Basic's Peter Nelson, who put up 16 points in addition to eight boards and four blocks. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for Arbor View to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
