The Ravenswood Red Devils will face off against the Tug Valley Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ravenswood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
While Ravenswood's win against Braxton County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Red Devils narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Eagles 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Red Devils have posted since March 26th.
Joe Casto spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 14 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Noah Dawson, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Ravenswood: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ralphie Rhodes, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Tug Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Van on Thursday, taking the game 9-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
Gavin Fitzpatrick was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Gage Whitt was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Tug Valley's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Ravenswood, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Ravenswood has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tug Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Ravenswood was able to grind out a solid win over Tug Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 8-3. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
