The Maplewood Rockets are taking a road trip to face off against the Girard Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Maplewood sitting on 19 straight victories and Girard on ten.
Maplewood will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Mathews, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rockets put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 16-1 win on Tuesday. Considering the Rockets have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Lexi Yannucci and Addison Marker made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Yannucci struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Marker tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Yannucci has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Yannucci went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Marker went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI Marker has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Katie Wear was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Aleesia Woomer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Maplewood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Girard hadn't done well against Lakeview recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Indians had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted since April 2nd.
The team relied heavily on Gabby Doran, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
Maplewood's record is now 19-1. As for Girard, their record now sits at 13-7.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Maplewood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .387. However, it's not like Girard struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
