The Jeannette Jayhawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Woodland Hills Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Jeannette not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15, 2024. Their pitcher stepped up to hand East Allegheny a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Jayhawks' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Noah Rattigan and Jayden Kennedy did most of the damage at the plate: Rattigan scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Kennedy scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs Rattigan has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Thomas, who scored three runs while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Woodland Hills hadn't done well against McKeesport recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Woodland Hills blew past McKeesport 12-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolverines.
Joe Young made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Young was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, Woodland Hills let Brayden Lindsey and Aaron Concepcion run wild. Lindsey scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Concepcion went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Shawn Saunders was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
Woodland Hills now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Jeannette, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Jeannette took their win against Woodland Hills in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 17-0. Does Jeannette have another victory up their sleeve, or will Woodland Hills turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
