The Buckeye Bucks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Rocky River, falling 61-26. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Buckeye in their matchups with Rocky River: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the loss, Buckeye saw an underclassman step up: Molly Danilovic scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Buckeye struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Rocky River posted 15 assists.
Rocky River found their leader in underclassman Olivia Dewey, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dewey has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Patti, who scored 11 points.
Buckeye's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Rocky River, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buckeye will take on Lakewood at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lakewood presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Buckeye in Ohio (Lakewood is ranked 335th, while Buckeye is ranked 743rd). Rocky River won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Valley Forge at 6:45 p.m. on January 25th.
