Even though the Pamlico County Hurricanes scored an imposing 70 points on Thursday, the Martin County Knights still came out on top. Martin County secured a 74-70 W over Pamlico County. This was payback for Martin County, who suffered a 53-39 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Jordan Matthewson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 33 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ty'quaious Baker, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Pamlico County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tariq Barber, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Koby Lane was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Martin County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Pamlico County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Martin County will take on North East Carolina Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North East Carolina Prep is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. As for Pamlico County, they will play host again and welcome Lejeune, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Allowing an average of 55.3 points per game, Lejeune has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this contest.
