Baseball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Steward's Winning Streak

Steward dropped their record down to 13-10 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 9-0 to the Cape Henry Collegiate Dolphins. The shutout was out of character for the Spartans seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

As for Cape Henry Collegiate, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.

For Cape Henry Collegiate's part, Colin Lebel made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Lebel a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ryan Hummel was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Wan Chae, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As of now, neither Steward nor Cape Henry Collegiate have any future games scheduled.
