Wilson Area is 0-10 against Northwestern Lehigh since September of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Wilson Area Warriors will be playing at home against the Northwestern Lehigh Tigers at noon The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Wilson Area has struggled recently with 18 losses in a row, while Northwestern Lehigh will arrive with eight straight victories.
Last Friday, Wilson Area was beaten by Pottsville 48-14. Wilson Area was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-0.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Northwestern Lehigh's strategy against Bangor on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Northwestern Lehigh blew Bangor out of the water with a 35-6 final score. The result was nothing new for Northwestern Lehigh, who have now won seven matches by 28 points or more so far this season.
Northwestern Lehigh's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dalton Clymer led the charge by rushing for 109 yards and a touchdown, while also picking up 35 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Devon Hildebrand, who picked up 96 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Bangor to a paltry 199 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Northwestern Lehigh's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Bryer Reichard and his two sacks.
Wilson Area's defeat was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Southern Lehigh and 11-3 Northwestern Lehigh (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 59.4% over those games). As for Northwestern Lehigh, their victory on Thursday bumped their record up to 8-0.
Wilson Area was dealt a bruising 35-8 defeat at the hands of Northwestern Lehigh in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Wilson Area, Cade Christopher (who threw for 125 yards and two touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
