Baseball Game Preview: Wyoming Area Warriors vs. MMI Preparatory School

The Wyoming Area Warriors will head out to square off against MMI Preparatory School at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Wyoming Area is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Wyoming Area was handed a eight-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Wallenpaupack Area 11-9. The game was the first time the Warriors have beaten the Buckhorns on their field since March 25, 2019.

Wyoming Area got a big performance out of Chase Speicher, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The Warriors are undefeated when Speicher posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise. David Fath also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, MMI Preparatory School hadn't done well against Lake-Lehman recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. MMI Preparatory School never let Lake-Lehman get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for MMI Preparatory School as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Wyoming Area pushed their record up to 10-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for MMI Preparatory School, their record is now 7-10.

Everything went Wyoming Area's way against MMI Preparatory School in their previous meeting back in April, as Wyoming Area made off with a 15-8 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
