It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Cypress Ranch had no problem doing just that on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 40-24 victory over the Klein Bearkats. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Leading Cypress Ranch to victory were Peyton Thomas and Braden Baker. Thomas gained 176 total yards and two touchdowns, while Baker threw for 216 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes. What's more, Thomas posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Cypress Ranch's leading receiver Manny Leyja was Baker's top target yet again, picking up 89 receiving yards and one TD.
Cypress Ranch's record now sits at 9-2. As for Klein, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-5.
Coming up, Cypress Ranch will challenge Grand Oaks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 906 yards in their previous games. Klein does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
