Central Christian has gone 9-1 against Atmore Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. MJ Parrish and Sydney Walker stepped up to the plate in a big way. Parrish scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Walker went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Walker a new career-high. Calleigh Callaway was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
Meanwhile, Atmore Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch last Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 20-10 to Aletheia Christian Academy.
Atmore Christian saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jenna Kennell, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Kennell has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another was Amanda Morris, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Even though they lost, Atmore Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aletheia Christian Academy only posted a batting average of .222.
Central Christian's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2. As for Atmore Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Central Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .572. However, it's not like Atmore Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .591. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
