The Wickenburg Wranglers will face off against the Mohave Accelerated Patriots at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Wickenburg has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Wickenburg had been on a six-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Kingman Academy put an end to it on Friday. The Wranglers came up short against the Tigers, falling 12-0. The Wranglers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, Mohave Accelerated entered their tilt with Glendale Prep Academy on Thursday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. They never let the Griffins get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 games by seven runs or more this season.
Kennedy Lamb made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two triples, and five RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Tanner Banks was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rayli Marin, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Mohave Accelerated kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 19 consecutive matches.
Mohave Accelerated's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Wickenburg, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wickenburg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mohave Accelerated struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
