Jackson Academy had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Oak Forest Academy Yellowjackets 42-6. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Aaric Beasley and Kingston Mays. Beasley rushed for 118 yards and four scores on only ten carries while Mays rushed for 167 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Those 167 rushing yards gave Mays a new career-high.
Jackson Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gus Summers and Baird Kennedy.
Looking ahead, Jackson Academy will be playing at home against Leake Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 880 yards in their previous games. As for Oak Forest Academy, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Bowling Green on Friday.
