It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Lowell Red Devils ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They walked away with a 43-34 victory over Hobart. This was payback for Lowell, who suffered a 58-47 loss the last time these two teams met.
Bre Kidd was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 15 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Elysia Laub, who scored six points along with four blocks and two steals.
Hobart's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cailey Weber, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Weber, who scored four points along with 14 rebounds.
Lowell's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Hobart, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lowell will take on Culver Academies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Culver Academies is ranked 172nd, while Lowell is ranked 166th). Hobart will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Merrillville at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Merrillville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 190 points over their last three matches.
