Lamar has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Latta Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lamar will be strutting in after a victory while Latta will be coming in after a loss.
Even though Lamar has not done well against Hannah-Pamplico recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Lamar came out on top against Hannah-Pamplico by a score of 40-30. The win was just what Lamar needed coming off of a 62-42 loss in their prior match.
Xavier "Zoom" Jackson and NyShaun "Shaun" Quillen were among the main playmakers for Lamar as the former scored nine points along with six steals and the latter scored seven points along with ten rebounds and three steals. Quillen also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Nygel Eaddy, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Latta's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They fell 58-48 to Lake View. The matchup was a 26-26 toss-up at halftime, but Latta was outscored by Lake View in the second.
Lamar's win bumped their record up to 3-11. As for Latta, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
Lamar suffered a grim 67-46 defeat to Latta when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lamar was down 35-10.
