The Half Moon Bay Cougars can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 44-35 win over Homestead. The win was just what Half Moon Bay needed coming off of a 61-23 defeat in their prior match.
Despite the loss, Homestead still got an impressive performance from Maxx Ward, who rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 90 receiving yards. Ward was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards.
Half Moon Bay's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Homestead, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Half Moon Bay will take on Menlo School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Menlo School will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. As for Homestead, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Palo Alto at 7:00 p.m. Palo Alto presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Homestead in California (Palo Alto is ranked 381st, while Homestead is ranked 779th).
