The Eastern Randolph Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Oak Grove, falling 62-29. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Eastern Randolph has scored all season.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kenly Whitaker, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Whitaker scored a full 37.9% of Eastern Randolph's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ziera Watson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Oak Grove was led to victory by Tatum Tesh and Trista Charles. Tesh scored 17 points, while Charles scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. The matchup was Charles' ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalin Favreau, who scored five points.
Eastern Randolph has fallen quite a ways from their 19-8 record last season and are now at 1-5. As for Oak Grove, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Eastern Randolph won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Albemarle at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. One thing working in Albemarle's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Oak Grove will be home for the holidays to greet High Point Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. High Point Central comes in on a streak of failing to score more than nine points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
