The Wayne Eagles will face off against the Mynderse Academy Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Wednesday, Wayne needed a bit of extra time to put away Aquinas Institute. They walked away with a 14-10 victory over the Little Irish. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Little Irish: they've now won five in a row.
Myia Eskander made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over ten innings while giving up seven earned (and two unearned) runs off 13 hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one triple.

In other batting news, Sam Ray and Zoe Eaton did most of the damage at the plate: Ray went 4-for-6 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Eaton went 3-for-6 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave Ray a new career-high. Savannah Celso was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Wayne kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.4.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mynderse Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. Everything went their way against Newark on Monday as they made off with a 17-9 victory. Considering the Blue Devils have won six matches by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Isabella Burlew spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Mercedes Santana was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyah Lajewski, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Mynderse Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Wayne, they pushed their record up to 6-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wayne has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mynderse Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
