Basketball Game Preview: Lee County Trojans vs. Veterans Warhawks

The Lee County Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the Veterans Warhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lee County comes in on six and Veterans on three.

Lee County is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Northside: they outscored them in every quarter. Lee County enjoyed a cozy 46-30 win over Northside on Tuesday. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Eagles are ranked 257th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lee County found their leader in sophomore Taliyah Porter, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Porter has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 18 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaliyah Crump, who posted four points and seven steals.

Lee County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Veterans didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Tift County on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 67-62 victory.

Lee County has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.9 points per game. As for Veterans, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-8.

Lee County won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in January, slipping by Veterans 51-50. Will Lee County repeat their success, or does Veterans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
