After flying high against the Versailles Tigers on Tuesday, the Eldon Mustangs came back down to earth. Eldon fell 57-44 to California on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Eldon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while California is ranked seventh).
Loss or not, Eldon got some senior leadership from Sydney Halderman who scored 14 points along with 5 steals and Zoe Martonfi who scored 8 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. The contest was Halderman's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Kenzi Ward was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Eldon's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for California, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Eldon is on the road again on Friday and play against Capital City at 5:30 p.m. on December 1st. As for California, they will face off against Montgomery County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
